Brief statement of the purpose of this position:

Under the direction of the COBRA Participant Support Manager and Supervisor, the COBRA Payment Specialist will work as part of a team to ensure accurate and timely daily processing of payments and elections. The COBRA Payment Specialist will develop and sustain excellent data processing skills that promote the growth of Infinisource.


Primary responsibilities of this position are:

  1. Accurately and timely processing of COBRA and Direct Billing payments and elections.
  2. Initiate phone calls to participants and customers of COBRA and Direct Billing as needed.
  3. Assist in reconciling daily and monthly cash receipts and deposits.
  4. Assist in the preparation of the Payment Center incoming mail for processing.
  5. Make necessary adjustments to records of COBRA participants and/or Direct Billing participants.
  6. Miscellaneous scanning of documents.
  7. Assist in duties of the mail room, including, but not limited to:
    1. Operate printers, postage meters and other equipment as needed.
    2. Mail pickup from the post office.
    3. Prepare mail, faxes, and e-mails received for processing.
    4. Retrieve documents from our offsite warehouse.
  8. Additional duties as assigned.

Education and experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bank teller or basic accounting experience preferred, or equivalent, but not required.

Additional knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Problem analysis, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines, ten key.
  • Ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications.
  • Ability to perform basic accounting functions, e.g., balancing a cash register and/or teller drawer.

Physical demands and work environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is required to use hands. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for written work and PC use. The noise level is usually fairly quiet.
